A Brief History
Founded in 1981 by Phil Courtney, "Courtney Colour Graphics" has grown from humble beginnings within a small factory in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, to a thriving multi-faceted print communications company, employing a team of 30 dedicated and highly experienced professionals.
Phil's vision was to be the No. 1 printer in the eastern region and beyond – and he had a particular passion and admiration for the Yarra Valley wine and tourism area. A long-standing mutual appreciation and respect for the local business operators resulted in Courtney's being the regions' preferred supplier of premium print products.
This same philosophy was adopted as Courtney Colour expanded it's client base to cover the wider Melbourne metropolitan area and also interstate – offering premium quality printing to a range of industries, from small business to large multinationals. With this expansion came national print awards of the highest level and soon, Courtney become a familiar name within the industry. Although Phil is sadly no longer with us, his legacy of delivering an outstanding level of service and quality within the industry lives on.
Today, a new generation of passion for print leads Courtney into the future. Calling from a wealth of industry knowledge and a drive to succeed, the current owners and directors of Courtney have re-instated the company's presence within the marketplace, by offering new products and services that focus on a true, end-to-end solution.
Through forward thinking and sound analysis of this evolving industry, the company has invested in state-of-the-art print machinery, innovative online technology and refined processes. Together with a team that is experienced in the traditions of design, fine printing and finishing, the company is poised for continued success.
What We Offer
Courtney offers a total design and print solution, combining a fully equipped creative design studio, prepress department, pressroom, fully automated bindery, warehouse and logistics facility. Courtney has also developed an innovative online workflow management system (V2), that keeps the client in full control of inventory, print to order and direct mail marketing.
We have both offset and high-end digital capabilities, allowing us to be competitive across quantities from 1 to 100,000+. Award-winning production techniques derived from three decades within printing are used to produce anything from fine art books and catalogues, to product brochures and flyers, to company reports and stationery or promotional and point of sale material – all produced within our in-house facility.
Aside from quality printing and finishing, from the initial stages of any print project, Courtney can assist with creative design and advertising concepts, finished artwork, and professional photography.

Whilst a major part of our service offering is a true "end-to-end" design, print and print management solution, we also respect that some clients may already have valued suppliers in place. In this instance, we would welcome the opportunity to work alongside any existing suppliers in order to obtain the best possible outcomes for our clients.
The Environment
With the green vistas of the Yarra Valley on our doorstep, we need little reminding of our place in nature. As the environment is recognised as a mainstream business concern, many clients are already supporting our environmental practices.
At Courtney, we employ recycle waste management, utilise biodegradable soy-based Inks, provide film-free production of our printing plates via computer-to-plate technology and practice reduction of volatile organic compounds. Environmentally friendly paper stocks are fast becoming regulation within day-to-day printing and, wherever possible, we offer environmentally friendly stocks to our customers. |
